Tips to take care of your feet in Diabetes

The number of diabetic people in India are only increasing with each passing day. It is a leading cause of all sorts of foot amputations as well. This article also includes the advice given by the best doctors in Delhi to avoid foot amputations.
There are reasons for this:
  1. Reduced blood flow: Diabetic patients have a reduced blood flow to their feet and an accelerated flow throughout blood vessels and major and minor pathways. This leads to narrowing the blood vessels and in turn, reducing the blood circulation in the feet of the patient. The best clinics in South Delhi have read into this matter.
  2. Neuropathy: Most long-term diabetic persons suffer from nerve damage (sensory-motor and autonomic neuropathy). The loss of sensation in the feet usually leads to numbness and ignorance of the injuries in the feet. Repeated, traumatic pain in the feet lead to amputations in the feet. A lack of sweating is also seen in the feet and it leads to dryness and cracks in the feet which in turn lead to infections.
  3. Loss of Arc: Usually, diabetic patients lose their normal foot arc. Claw toes or Hammer's toes also make appearances in usual cases. In majority cases, forward displacement of fat cushion under the first metatarsal head is seen while some have rocker bottom deformity. All this results in abnormal weight distribution and later on, change in the foot shape. Corns and callosities are also seen. Due to the change in foot shape, the usual footwear does not fit properly and causes more injuries than usual.
  4. Slowed healing: Neutrophils are a type of white blood corpuscles who’s working is impaired in diabetic patients. Thus, they heal slower than other people and pass on infections faster.
Diabetes specialists in South Delhi suggest a few ways to take care of your feet:
